How It Began
The inspiration behind The Abilities Lounge began with our daughter, Talia.
Talia is strong, resilient, and uniquely herself. Through her journey, she opened our eyes to both the challenges and opportunities that many individuals and families experience when searching for places where they truly feel welcomed, accepted, and included.
As parents, we spent years searching for activities, programs, and community spaces that were accommodating, judgment-free, and designed with neurodivergent teens and young adults in mind. While we found wonderful people along the way, we often struggled to find a place where our daughter could simply be herself, build meaningful friendships, explore her interests, and feel a true sense of belonging.
Those experiences inspired us to create the kind of place we wished existed for our own family.
The Abilities Lounge was born from a family's desire to create a welcoming community space where neurodivergent teens and young adults can build confidence, develop social connections, discover new interests, and create lasting friendships in a supportive and inclusive environment.
At our core, we love helping people and bringing people together. We believe that everyone deserves opportunities to connect, engage, and be part of a community where they are valued for who they are.
What started as a dream to create meaningful social opportunities has grown into The Abilities Lounge—a sensory-friendly space where individuals can engage, relax, and connect.
Today, TAL is more than a place. It's a community built on acceptance, belonging, friendship, and the belief that every person deserves a space where they can thrive. 💜
